I just wanted to mention even though it is listed and I read it several times - You MUST have at least a Level 2 Trading post before you can start getting rep. Like mentioned it was stated just for whatever reason it didn't seem like you needed it to get rep just for buying things. But it is needed to get rep from grinding the mobs.
